The document was commissioned to BVSNW by the Communities First Support Network (CFSN). It involved extensive collaboration from many people and organisations in Wales. The guidelines provide an essential, informative and practical tool for all involved with BME communities, Gypsies & Travellers, refugees and asylum seekers.
Finding Common Ground
How can community mediation better assist people from black and minority ethnic communities to resolve conflicts?
This question led to a piece of research being carried out between February and October 2006. With the help of people from the Afro-Caribbean, Bangladeshi, Gujarati, Pakistani and Somali communities in Cardiff, this study sought to establish whether mediation would be acceptable and effective in resolving disputes within and between black and minority ethnic communities or whether there are more appropriate alternatives.
